Confidentiality Policy
At Calm Mind, your privacy and trust are fundamental to the therapeutic relationship. Everything you discuss during therapy is treated with respect, sensitivity and confidentiality.
My Commitment to You
As your therapist, I will provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment where you can talk openly about your thoughts, feelings and experiences.
Any information you share with me, including assessment forms, session notes and personal details, will be kept confidential and stored securely in accordance with UK GDPR and professional standards.
When Confidentiality May Be Broken
Confidentiality is a vital part of therapy; however, there are a small number of situations where I may have a legal or ethical duty to share information.
This may happen if:
There is a serious risk that you may harm yourself.
There is a serious risk that someone else may be harmed.
There is a concern about the abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult.
I am required to disclose information by law, such as through a court order.
Disclosure is necessary to prevent a serious crime.
Wherever possible, I will discuss any need to share information with you first and involve you in the process, unless doing so would increase the risk of harm.
Clinical Supervision
As part of maintaining high professional standards, I regularly attend clinical supervision.
During supervision, I may discuss aspects of my clinical work to ensure I am providing the best possible care. Any information shared is anonymised wherever possible, and supervisors are also bound by strict confidentiality.
Online Therapy
Online sessions are conducted using secure video conferencing software.
To help maintain confidentiality, I ask that you:
Attend sessions in a private, quiet room where you are unlikely to be interrupted.
Use a secure internet connection where possible.
Wear headphones if others may be nearby.
Avoid recording sessions unless we have agreed this in advance.
I will also ensure that I conduct sessions from a private and confidential environment.
Your Records
Assessment forms, therapy notes and other relevant records are stored securely and retained in accordance with my Privacy Policy and current professional guidance.
You have the right to request access to your personal information, subject to the provisions of UK data protection legislation.
Questions
If you have any questions about confidentiality or how your information is handled, please feel free to ask at any stage before or during therapy.
My aim is for you to feel informed, safe and confident throughout your therapeutic journey.
